Where is JYJ on the list of nominees for ‘Melon Music Awards’?

Earlier, we reported that voting began for the 2011 MMA‘s (Melon Music Awards).

Top 30 finalists were announced by Melon, which included artists like Kim Bum Soon, Park Jung Hyun, Huh Gak, 2NE1, 2PM, 4minute, Girl’s Day, TVXQ, B2ST, SECRET, G.NA, f(x), INFINITE, T-ara, GD & TOP, miss A, IU, K.Will, CNBLUE, Leessang, Davichi, 10cm, Super Junior, Big Bang, and more.

However, one artist that was missing from the top 30 list was JYJ. Their absence from the nominees list drew many heated reactions from netizens, and once again, SM Entertainment is being accused in undertones of being the influencing factor.

Some have been speculating that music award shows are showing reluctance about JYJ’s appearance due to the conflicts with SM Entertainment. If JYJ makes an appearance on the show or receives and award, SM Entertainment could possibly refuse to attend the event. They speculate that the shows don’t want to be burdened with the possibility of having SM Entertainment pull artists like f(x), TVXQ, Super Junior, and SNSD from attending.

In response to these speculations, the MMA stated, “The Top 30 were determined by the amount of streaming (40%), downloads (50%), mobile (10%) on Melon… They were determined by the precise data collected, and JYJ did not make the top 30 from those data.”

JYJ released their fist official Korean album ‘In Heaven’ in September and have been receiving much love – selling over 300,000 copies even without music program appearances.

2PM gets startled by a Taiwanese fan and her miss A dance

On October 27th’s episode of Mnet’s ‘Boom The K-POP‘, a Taiwanese fan — who had the opportunity of interviewing 2PM– startled them with her miss A dance.

The fan told the boys, “I have a present I prepared for 2PM,” before launching into a dance cover of miss A’s “Good Bye Baby”.

Since she was wearing a short skirt, an embarrassed Taecyeon called out , “Uh hey, your skirt.. your skirt.. your skirt.” Shocked, the other members threw up their hands to cover the view.

In what could have been a very embarrassing situation for the fan, the 2PM members decided to help her shake it off by getting up to perform the dance with her. Taecyeon and Junsu performed a comic dance cover, and the fan thanked the boys for their thoughtfulness and expressed her fondness for them once more.

Netizens criticize MBC’s ‘Radio Star’: “Just not the same”

MBC‘s ‘Golden Fishery‘ aired their reformatted 75-minute ‘Radio Star‘ episode on October 19th. It was the first time that ‘Radio Star’ was the main segment of the entire show, and netizens had a lot to say after watching the episode that guest-featured girl group KARA.

KARA - Medley Dance on MBC Star Radio

Some remarked that the show was “entertaining“, but others argued that it “just wasn’t the same“, and that it “dragged on“.

Commenting on the new ‘Radio Star’, PD Park Jung Kyu remarked, “The episode with KARA was filmed long before we made the decision to close the ‘Knee-Drop Guru‘ corner. Although it’s been reformatted to a 75-minute long program, nothing is different. Before, we edited the corner so that it was comprised of two 20-minute segments; however, we decided to develop it to a full 75-minute independent program after ‘Knee-Drop Guru’ came to a close. It couldn’t be helped that the discussion topics became a little stretched out with the longer duration.”

“A brand new ‘Radio Star’ will broadcast starting next week. It will be a lot like the old ‘Radio Star’ with some new content, and will be somewhat divided into two different segments. We just finished shooting the new ‘Radio Star’, and although there may be some bumps in the road until things get a little more settled, the show will not lose its original appeal. Please look forward to a new and improved ‘Radio Star’,” he continued.

Kara Goo Hara calls SNSD Jessica on MBC Radio Star

PD Park also commented on Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun as an MC. “The KARA episode was his first recording, and I’m sure he was nervous, as he doesn’t have a lot of experience on variety shows. But he began to relax a bit starting from the shoot for the second episode. He participates very easily in conversations and even makes a few good jokes. I hope everyone will look forward to how much he will evolve on the show as an MC.”

SECRET is back on ‘Music Core’ with “Love is Move”

SECRET has made a triumphant return on ‘Music Core‘ tonight with their new song, “Love is Move“!

Secret - Don't Smile (Oct 20, 2011)

The girls continued with their retro concept, but they vamped it up this time around by introducing sexy bodywaves and form-fitting dresses to their stage routine.

As explained earlier, their concept was inspired by ’70s cartoon character, ‘Betty Boop‘. TS Entertainment stated, “Betty Boop was a popular cartoon character back in the ’70s that caused a sensation for her cute face and sexy figure. The Betty Boop character is still an icon to many women because of her ability to speak her mind while still maintaining her feminine charisma. The idea behind Betty Boop seemed to match the haughty and confident image that SECRET is trying to express for this concept.”
