TVXQ’s Yunho and Claudia put on a fun puppet show for ‘Kiss & Cry’

Last week, we reported that TVXQ’s Yunho and Claudia would be transforming into marionettes for ‘Kiss & Cry’.

On the July 24th broadcast of SBS’s ‘Kiss & Cry‘, Yunho and Claudia put on a marionette concept performance, while SHINee’s Minho made an appearance as their team’s friend.

Lifts were the big project for Yunho’s team. Claudia feared lifts because she was used to skating along and Yunho had difficulty because he was not a professional skater.

The two began their performance as masked dolls. SHINee’s Minho played a puppetmaster, making Yunho and Claudia move like marionettes. They successfully performed a variety of difficult skills such as the white mushroom spin, marionette lift, curve lift, straight couple sequence, and lunge.

Judge Go Sung Hee said, “Though I think you can do more when it comes to skill, you did something that others didn’t do.” Kim Yuna said, “I saw that you’ve improved your lifts from an uncertain lift to one that is much more steady. The spins were great as well.” Kim Jang Hoon said, “I think Yunho has the greatest capability. Your confident expression looks cool to even a fellow guy like me.”

Meanwhile, the Yunho and Claudia couple earned 36 points out of 40.

Hyomin talks about T-ara’s gym clothes performance for “Roly-Poly”

On last week’s episode of MBC’s ‘Music Core‘, T-ara amused fans by ditching their flashy retro outfits for loose-fitting red Phys.Ed clothes, commonly worn in junior and high schools.

Outfits usually make up a girl group’s image, so the girls definitely managed to turn heads when they emerged with an outfit that’s anything but flattering. T-ara’s Hyomin sat down for an interview with Mydaily and revealed that it was actually an idea suggested by the members themselves!

She revealed, “It was the day that After School and miss A were both making their comebacks, so it was an idea that we all came up with out of concern. It was our fourth week into our ‘Roly-Poly‘ promotions and we wanted to prepare something special. It’s a decision we came to in order to better show off our retro concept.”

To find the outfits, the members sat down with their stylists to come up with the color and the design for their old-school Phys.Ed outfits. “It’s the summer time, so we could only find short outfits. We had to place a special order for longer sleeves and produced a total of seven of them with thick material, which made it really hot.”

It wasn’t only their outfits that they made changes to, as they also gave up their high heels, which was a large sacrifice made by the group’s shortest member, Boram.

With a laugh, Hyomin said, “We all decided to wear sneakers, but since they’re low, it makes your legs look short on stage and it’s just not pretty. We were also worried about Boram unni. If it wasn’t for her sacrifice, the stage wouldn’t have been possible, so we’re all very thankful to her. I was a happy leader when everyone agreed to do it all together.”

Not only is she the new leader of T-ara, but she’s also juggling a drama and a movie role at once. “I’m the busiest I’ve ever been since my debut, but I’m happy. My stamina couldn’t keep up and I did faint, but I want to be more careful this time and end our promotions on a safe and positive note.”

SNSD on global K-Pop flash mobs, their popularity, and their devoted fans

On July 24th, SNSD held a press conference before their “2011 Girls’ Generation Tour” in Songpagu, Seoul, where they revealed their thoughts on their tour, their popularity, and on hitting their 20’s.

The girls began, “During our concert, we sang a ballad track. The fans threw a surprise event for us where they all held up a placard that said, ‘We missed you.’ It was so moving, we all ended up crying. It was an event brought together with one heart. It was us who had to give our fans joy, but we were grateful to receive such a moving present from our fans instead. We were able to work extra hard on our performances after that, so we’re very thankful.”

When told about the K-Pop flash mobs being held all over the world, the girls said, “The biggest present of all is being able to visit each place in person. We hope that the SM Town’s seniors and juniors will be able to coordinate their schedules and go together.”

“We heard about these flash mobs through others, and realized that the only universal language is music. Thank you. We want to hurry and visit these places to sing songs and exchange emotions.”

When asked about their new mature look, they replied, “We’ve been hearing that we’ve matured a lot, but it’s not something that we were aiming to emphasize. During our earlier days, we were only high school students, but we’re all in our 20’s now. We think that we just naturally grew older and matured with time.”

Reflecting on their consistent popularity, the girls said, “We held 14 arena tours in Japan. It was a great opportunity to be able to communicate with fans from different places. Our fans continue to give us their love, and we’re both amazed and grateful for that.”

At their concert, the girls will be singing their many Korean hits, as well as the Korean versions of “Mr. Taxi” and “Let It Rain“. Fans can also look forward to the girls’ individual stages.

JYJ’s Jaejoong chats about the possibility of a collaboration album with Kim Hyun Joong

In a recent interview with Seoul NTN, JYJ’s Jaejoong showed off his friendship with SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong by discussing the possibility of a future album together.

Jaejoong was asked, “If you were to direct the concert of another artist, who would you choose?” Since he and Kim Hyun Joong are famous for being friends of the same age, the reporter suggested Kim Hyun Joong. Jaejoong replied, “That friend will probably try to do everything on his own. I’m not sure whether he’ll take up directing, but I think he will sooner or later.”

He continued, “I drank with Hyun Joong a few days ago and we talked about putting out an album together. We’ve actually been talking about that for some time now, which is why there were rumors of him joining our agency when he wasn’t under a label (laughter). I think it’d be fun working with him, though. Putting aside the profit aspect of it, I want to throw a concert with him for our fans. I can direct it.”

At the mention of the long list of his celebrity friends, he replied, “Korean celebrities do get in contact with Japanese celebrities, but it’s probably not a frequent occurrence. I, too, don’t have a lot, and it’s just that all my friends are famous people. My friends have a lot of interest in fashion, dance, and acting. People of the same profession have similar mindsets, so I naturally become friends with them.”

miss A makes a “Good Bye Baby” comeback on Inkigayo

Having made a stunning debut more than a year ago with “Bad Girl Good Girl“, the miss A girls are finally back with their first album “A Class” and its title track, “Good Bye Baby“.

Their title track “Good Bye Baby” is an expression of a woman’s cool indifference to a man who’s breaking up with her. The track has a dynamic chorus melody, featuring the same base as their debut track, “Bad Girl Good Girl“, but with a few twists that make it stand alone.

Although the melody sounds upbeat, the song actually has a toned sound, giving it an overall calm feeling. Perhaps the song’s strongest characteristic is where the girls are singing as if they’re whispering, acting out the words to the listener.
