Boom gets discharged from the army

On August 22nd, rapper/MC Boom finally completed his two years of military service, and was welcomed back by hundreds of fans and reporters at the gate.

The producers of SBS’s ‘Strong Heart‘ had prepared a special banner that read “BOOM’S BACK” near the area. Before officially making his exit, Boom bid his farewell to his fellow celebrity soldiers, Lee Junki, Kim Ji Suk, Lee Dong Gun, Andy, and Park Hyo Shin. The group was seen hugging and shaking hands, congratulating Boom on his discharge.

‘Boom Academy’ members Super Junior’s Leeteuk, Shindong, Eunhyuk, as well as singer Jay Park greeted Boom once he finally stepped outside. When asked how he felt, he replied, “I trained my hardest, knowing that it’s my duty to my nation. Now I believe that my duty is to bring happiness and joy to our citizens, so I will be using what I learned in the army to passionately make everyone laugh on TV.”

When asked if he had prepared any variety skills while serving, Boom replied, “A lot of people were probably curious about that, but I was dutiful to my training and watched variety shows whenever I had the time. I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare any personal skills, but I do have about 1,000 ideas.”

Commenting on his actual service, he said, “I’m grateful to my time in the army because it allowed me to see and understand myself for who I truly am. What I felt within my service was that the Korean army is stronger than what’s perceived externally. I hope that everyone puts their trust in us and lives happily.”

Boom then told Leeteuk, “I think it’s fortunate that you protected ‘Strong Heart’ until my discharge. Thank you so much for giving me so much love before and after my service.”

Concluding his interview, he said, “My goal is to now hold on tight to the hands of my juniors and slowly walk forward. I’ll be walking forward with the big steps I learned in the army.”

Boom will be returning to ‘Strong Heart’ on September 1st in addition to DJing for SBS’s ‘Young Street‘.
